What is on
The Hall describes the house dressed in “original, handmade decorations”, many of them made from flowers and foliage grown and dried in its own walled garden. After dark the topiary is strung with lights and the fires are lit.
- The candy cane trail. Twenty-four giant, hand-carved and painted candy canes, one for each day of Advent, are hidden in the branches of the woodland behind the house.
- Felt snowmen. Children can look for a handmade felt snowman doll hidden in each room by the Cunliffe-Lister children, the family who live at the Hall.
- Food and gifts. Wood-fired food, spiced hot drinks and home-baked cakes, and a gift shop selling Christmas decorations.

The two late nights
On Tuesday 1 December and Thursday 10 December the Hall stays open until 9pm with carol singing in the house and mulled wine. The rules are strict:
- Late night tickets are separate and limited, and the Hall says it “will not be able to admit anyone without a late night opening ticket”.
- Historic Houses membership does not cover the late nights.
- Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens members are covered, but every member must book a free ticket and show their membership on arrival. Member tickets are limited too.
The event page says the late night tickets will be “available online soon”, and the Hall’s online box office already carries a “Late night Christmas opening, with carol singing” listing. The Hall has not published a late night price on its website; we will add it here when it does.
Prices
The Hall has not published a separate Christmas price. Its standard 2026 admission for the hall and gardens is £18.50 adult, £9.50 child (4 to 15), under 4s free, with family tickets at £28 for one adult and two children and £46.50 for two adults and two children. The Hall warns that “these prices may vary for special events”, so check the booking page before you go. The prices include a voluntary 10% donation towards the upkeep of the house. The Hall’s 2026 calendar shows the house closes after the Halloween trail on Sunday 1 November, and the gardens, shop and cafe are then shut from 2 to 13 November while the Christmas decorations go up. Everything reopens together on 14 November.
